Why do sunnis & shias become quran-only muslims when they want to make Islam look better?
Non-muslims say Islam teaches to kill people who leave the religion. Sunnis and shias then say “no that’s not in Islam! The quran doesn’t say that! The quran says there’s no compulsion in religion… (points to quran) see, let there be no compulsion in religion”.
To be a sunni or shia, you have to follow the sunnah, and the sunnah and shariah says to kill apostates. Shariah utopias like Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia have this law. Some clever muslims then refer to hadiths where apostates were let go. But this means shariah law is corrupt, because all major madhabs impose death on apostates.
Is this taqiyya, or just confusion?

They should become apostates themselves.
Apostasy rules!
(This is proven by major studies which show the inverse relationship between religion and education)

If Quran says there is no compulsion in religion and hadith says kill the apostate , which one I have to believe ?
Does prophet Muhamed have the authority to issue a law which is not in the Quran ?
There are so many hadiths which are superstitious , some hadiths talk about the unseen when prophet Muhamed in the Quran says to his people I don’t know the unseen .
People love to make up things for so many reasons . Those people who said it to Bukhari are story tellers , 250 years gab is very long time to trust many hadiths .
If a testimony in a court was giving in this way no judge will accept it , this said to that and that said to this in a long chain when most of them are dead , can this ever be trusted ?
How can I trust hadiths if some of it contradict each other , they based their authenticity on their own personal view of judgment of the narrator which is very subjective.
Each sect has his own set of hadiths , this is just incredible .
I never thought to leave sunni to make Islam look better , I care more about the image of Islam in my eyes , noone really cares , most people hate Islam and I won’t change the world . I was always defending sunna but it just happened that someone was the reason for me to read about God alone Muslims . Their argument was very good and convincing in many aspects , I may still disagree with them in things but still they make alot of sense.
Taqia is hypocrisy in some cases , I wouldn’t do . But I try to avoid discussion with people I know that they are narrow minded .

Exceptions to the Haddith and/or Quran do not mean that they are corrupt. What you fail to keep in mind is that the Quran was revealed mainly in responses to situations and therefore if the present situation is not similar then the same judgement may not be rendered.
Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan are not Utopian. They apply some sharia and not others. They often fail to administer justice equally and fal short of implementing the gifts of sharia as well as the punishments.

Taiyya is only in Shia system!!
No Muslim whatsoever (Shia or Sunnie) disregards the Quran or Sunnah. To follow Quran is to follow Sunnah.
Many people take one verse of Quran and say to follow it because it is clear!! Thats not right, The Quran was revelied in 23 years, same as Sunnah. Some verses were meant to fix one occasion.
For example, everyone knows that it is illigal to run a red light, right??
But what if one of your passengers are in danger?
I am sure when the police stops you, he will lets you go and probably tells you to drive behind him where you get to run every stop light!!!
So, there are rules in Islam. These rules have to be understood along with many others.
Quran says kill infidels, then says no compulsion in Religion. if you put these verses together, you will understand that the kill infidels verse is taling about War time!! If you put the kill ALL infidels verse along with the prophets history, you will find that the prophets visited his jew nieghbor when he was sick!! You will find out that Ali (4th caliph) went to court side by side with a jew and the jew won the case right in the heart of Islam (Madinah).

peace Gehenna,
i do think it is insincere of muslims.
note, however, that the capital punishment for apostates which is applied by the 4 sunni madhabs (i am not familiar with shii jurisprudence) is in the context of treason against an islamic state. unfortunately, the distinction between apostasy and treason has not been explicitly realized in the shariah. however, the shariah is a dynamic set of laws which represents the consensus of the interpretation of the quran and sunnah by scholars as applied in the context of a particular time and place. and it is to be hoped that these issues will be addressed in the near future.
also, the shariah represents the consensus of scholars from the various schools of jurisprudence. there are dissenting views within scholars that belong to these schools throughout the centuries. this issue is not an article of faith and therefore disagreement on this issue has always been tolerated. you do not cease to be a sunni/shia muslim if you differ on this detail.
so what is this? sometimes it is simply a difference of opinion. other times it an effort to look good in the eyes of nonmuslims. and very often it is result of ignorance of the matter.
