Buddha is not a religion, it is more about creating peace and there aren’t any Gods.
Peace should be there without people believing in God. You don’t have to believe in God to be good.

Salam
I’m not saying he was a prophet of Islam or anything but we should consider these from him-
1stly Allah says in the Qur’an-
Verily We have sent thee (Muhammad) in truth as a bearer of glad tidings and as a warner: And there never was a people without a warner having lived among them (in the past).
Qur’an 35:24
The Buddhist Books
Buddha prophesised the advent of a Maitreya.
Almost all Buddhist books contain this prophecy. It is in Chakkavatti Sinhnad Suttanta D. III, 76:
“There will arise in the world a Buddha named Maitreya (the benevolent one) a holy one, a supreme one, an enlightened one, endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious, knowing the universe:
“What he has realized by his own supernatural knowledge he will publish to this universe. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin, glorious at its climax, glorious at the goal, in the spirit and the letter. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and thoroughly pure; even as I now preach my religion and a like life do proclaim. He will keep up the society of monks numbering many thousands, even as now I keep up a society of monks numbering many hundreds”.
—————
According to Sacred Books of the East volume 35 pg. 225:
“It is said that I am not an only Buddha upon whom the leadership and order is dependent. After me another Buddha maitreya of such and such virtues will come. I am now the leader of hundreds, he will be the leader of thousands.”
—————
According to the Gospel of Buddha by Carus pg. 217 and 218 (From Ceylon sources):
“Ananda said to the Blessed One, ‘Who shall teach us when thou art gone?’
And the Blessed one replied, ‘I am not the first Buddha who came upon the earth nor shall I be the last. In due time another Buddha will arise in the world, a holy one, a supremely enlightened one, endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious, knowing the universe, an incomparable leader of men, a master of angels and mortals. He will reveal to you the same eternal truths, which I have taught you. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin, glorious at the climax and glorious at the goal. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and pure such as I now proclaim. His disciples will number many thousands while mine number many hundreds.’
Ananda said, ‘How shall we know him?’
The Blessed one replied, ‘He will be known as Maitreya’.”

Many Muslim scholars are agreed, that Dhul-Kifl mentioned in Chapter Al-Anbia is actually Buddha because Buddha was son of the king of Kipl in Arabic Lifl.
It is said him as a good patient person not clearly said as a Prophet, but his name is mentioned in Chapter of Prophets and list along with the people who were Prophets.

Walaikum Salaam.
Though not explicitly mentioned by name in the Quran, the view among many Islamic scholars is that, Siddhartha Gautama, might be one of the prophets of God Almighty, sent as a guide to mankind, based on the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which reads, “Since Adam, Allah(God) had sent some 124000 prophets and messengers”, (of them some with books of Guidance), and the Qur’anic verses that reads: “There is not a single people, but a messenger has been sent to them”,.
And the words of Jesus (pbuh) which reads: “Only in his own city and among his own people is a prophet without honour” ( Matthew 13 v 57), which is one among many signs, peculiar only to prophets, for Moses (pbuh) was initially rejected by his own people, the Israelites, before finally being accepted. So was Jesus (pbuh) initially rejected but finally accepted by some, if not all, of his people, the Jews, and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) , initially rejected but finally accepted by his own people. So was Buddha, initially rejected by his own people, the Hindus, only to be accepted latter by some. In addition, they all suffered temptations and persecutions in preaching and upholding the truth. One another point for the claim that Buddha might be a prophet of God, is the mention of a tree related with prophets, for example, The Burning Bush related with Prophet Moses, The Fig Tree related with Prophet Jesus, The Iron Wood Tree related with Prophet Muhammad, and similarly The Bothi Tree related with Gautama Buddha.
All this just point that Siddharta Gautama might be one among the prophets.
But the muslims are not to say for sure that he indeed was a prophet, without valid evidence.
And Allah knows best.
@Terri Morgan
In Hebrew He is known as ‘ELAH’
In Aramaic He is known as ‘AALAH’
In Arabic He is known as ‘ALLAH’
So basically He is the same fella that humans worship as the Only God of creations.
And He is infinite in knowledge that He knows where you will end up. He he he he.

Buddha was a Prince and gave up his worldly life of ‘pleasuires’ and renounced the world – to find out the TRUTH. He became a monk.
Do you understand the meaning of the word MONK?
Is Mohammad qualified to be called a MONK?
A monk is one who :-
1) does not kill anyone – Mohammad killed.
2) does not rob or loot or partake in the spoils of the war – Mohammad participated
3) does not engage in sex – a monk leads the life of a celibate – Mohammad had many wives, many concubines, man sex slaves, etc
Buddha had left his wife and child behind and severed all relations with them.
4) Buddha was a man full of peace. He himself found peace and gave peace to others. Because of the Buddha many people found real inner peace.
Mohammad used violence. Because of this, friction was created in the society. Many were killed or converted forcibly to Islam.
Mohammad can never be the predicted Buddha, if the Quran and the Hadiths are to be believed.

My advice
Do not take care of things and sub- issues which are in disagreement between scientists
Only derived your informations from the Qur’an and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and what you read only from trusted sources
There are so many names of prophets in the Quran, as the other sources ,it might be true or wrong
don’t hear to anyone, just what you see and hear and read
